Corby's AI Project

An Original AI-Native Anime Film

#

NEO//GENESIS is an original cyberpunk anime film concept I developed to explore how generative AI could support an end-to-end creative production workflow while maintaining consistency across characters, vehicles, environments, cinematography, and motion.

Rather than treating AI as a tool for isolated images, I approached the project as a production—building the visual language, reusable assets, production workflow, shot system, and final teaser.

THE CHALLENGE

Generating an image is easy. Building a world that stays consistent isn't.

Generative tools can create compelling images quickly. Production introduces a
different challenge.

Characters change. Wardrobe drifts. Vehicle geometry mutates. Environments lose their architectural language. Motion models reinterpret designs that were already approved.

The challenge became:

How do I turn generative variability into a controlled creative system?

THE AI PRODUCTION SYSTEM

Instead of prompting every shot independently, I developed a reusable production framework.

Characters became character systems. Motorcycles became a vehicle family. Locations became an environment library. Storyboards became structured scene specifications.

Each new generation could inherit creative decisions that had already been approved rather than reinventing the world from scratch.

CREATIVE DIRECTION / VISUAL LANGUAGE

I established a visual grammar before scaling production.

Cold cyan and blue define the city. Crimson signals instability and threat. Violet is associated with analytical technology, while ice blue communicates observation and control.

Ceramic armor, carbon composites, wet concrete, industrial steel, glass, holographic interfaces, rain, steam, reflections, and atmospheric depth establish the physical language of the world.

Camera behavior was treated as part of that system: wide lenses for scale, low tracking positions for vehicles, controlled movement for environments, and restrained framing for character moments.

The Characters

CHARACTER SYSTEM

Designing characters for reuse.

Each protagonist was developed as a reusable master asset with a distinct silhouette, palette, wardrobe system, personality, and narrative function.

The goal was simple: each character should remain recognizable across portraits, full-body shots, environments, vehicles, and animation—and the audience should be able to distinguish the four characters before they speak.

CREATIVE QA / ITERATION

Generative output was never automatically considered finished.

Some iterations were visually impressive but wrong for the larger system. When characters began sharing similar facial structures and silhouettes, I stopped generating variations and addressed the underlying design problem.

Silhouette, proportion, hair, wardrobe, palette, and visual role were redesigned until each character occupied a distinct position within the ensemble.

Generate → Evaluate → Diagnose → Redirect → Lock

The goal wasn't to select the most impressive generation. It was to select the design that best served the world.

ECHO VEHICLE SYSTEM

One platform. Four identities.

Instead of generating four unrelated futuristic motorcycles, I developed the ECHO platform—a shared vehicle family with common engineering DNA.

Each configuration reflects its rider while preserving a recognizable design language across geometry, materials, lighting, and mechanical systems.

The result is less like four individual concept images and more like a fictional product ecosystem.

WORLD SYSTEM

Designing a city capable of supporting a story.

Locations were developed as reusable environments rather than disposable backgrounds.

Each environment received its own narrative function, architecture, material language, atmosphere, lighting behavior, and camera opportunities.

This gave the story geography and allowed the city itself to become a recurring character.

STORYBOARD → STRUCTURED GENERATION

From "make something cool" to "what shot does the film need?"

Once the world system was established, I moved from generating images to designing shots.

Storyboards defined editorial purpose before generation. Each scene was then translated into structured instructions covering identity, location, vehicle, camera, action, lighting, timing, and continuity.

This created a bridge between creative direction and generative execution.

CONTINUITY + MOTION

Directing the twentieth generation, not just the first.

Production requires more specificity than "a futuristic motorcycle."

It requires this motorcycle, with this rider, wearing this wardrobe, in this environment, from this camera position.

Character sheets, vehicle sheets, turnarounds, environment masters, and continuity constraints became anchors for downstream generation.

Motion was approached with the same specificity. Instead of aesthetic instructions, shots were defined through camera position, lens, velocity, subject relationship, and timing.

RESULT + PROJECT OUTPUT

A streamlined pipeline designed for speed and consistency.

The final teaser combines the individual systems into one piece of storytelling. Characters retain their visual identities. Vehicles remain connected to their riders. Recurring environments establish geography. Camera behavior changes according to narrative purpose.

The finished film is one output of the project. The larger result is the reusable production system behind it.

MY ROLE

Creative Director · AI Creative Technologist

NEO//GENESIS explored what happens when generative AI is treated not as the creative director, but as part of a larger creative production system.

The technology accelerated exploration and production. The creative work remained in defining the idea, establishing the system, directing the tools, evaluating the output, solving failures, and deciding what ultimately belonged on screen.

As generation gets easier, direction becomes more valuable.
